 Game Highlights vs. Lyndhurst FC

NJSL Playoffs 6/15/09, Ramsey NJ -  As the playoffs were scheduled last minute, both clubs were wary how many would be able to show to the game this deep into the season. The Cats had just enough to get the job done this Sunday. Possibly the best display of possession all year, the Cats would wear down their opponent rather quickly by holding onto the ball. It appeared as if the club had been practicing for weeks in preparation for this match. Never facing Lyndhurst before, they weren’t sure what to expect, but 10 minutes in it didn’t seem to matter. The WFC would begin their route of LFC.

Everything was clicking from the back to the front, and there was an all out assault as the Cats would score in a matter of a few minutes. Tons of shots from the middle of the box by the mids, and constant runs from the forwards kept their opponent on their heels. The LFC’s keeper was proven shaky and kept leaving rebounds for plenty of opportunity. The shots from around the box were finding target this Sunday. Kitson and Hollens would share 5 goals, and R. Depiero’s would cause complaints of interference with the goalie. Lyndhurst could only come up with 2, one from a direct outside the box, and the other from a bouncer through the box that just crept into the side netting.

Mid winger, “ Lil’ Brother Chris Brinxsley”, scored the final blow late in the 2nd half. His nuts wrote a check his foot couldn’t cash as he boinked one into the netting from a Dasilva cross on the left side. Hopefully he’ll bring his coin purse next game too!!

The Cats move onto the Semifinals and again will look to prove themselves as elite contenders in the NJSL.
